With Boost international roaming you can use your mobile number and SIM for calls, text and data in 15 of the most popular destinations around the world. If a country you’re visiting isn’t on the list, simply grab a $5 or $15 Add-on to continue using your phone.

If you have an International Recharge or Add-On, International roaming will be activated on your Boost service. Before you jump on the plane, we also recommend checking the settings on your phone to turn roaming on/off. As with all of our recharges, our roaming and Add-On recharges will activate from the day you purchase them.

You can check your balance the same way as you do in Australia on the Boost App and #111#. Sometimes on international networks, you may find it takes a little longer to load, if this happens try using a different balance check method.

International Roaming Recharge has a 14 day expiry, you will have until midnight Australian Eastern Standard time.

This product is not compatible with rollover. All inclusions will expire after 14 days.

International Roaming recharge is only valid in selected countries excluding Australia. To use your Boost service in Australia you will need one of our 7 day, 28 day or long expiry recharges.

If you are going away for more than 14 days, simply recharge on expiry of your first international roaming recharge. You can recharge while overseas by dialling #111# from your phone.

If you know ahead of time that you’ll need more data/calls/text, you can recharge twice on the same day. This will double up the inclusions (i.e. 10GB of data, 60 minutes of calls to and from standard numbers and 200 SMS) to use within 14 days.

International Roaming recharge is only available online. While in Australia, you can grab the recharge online, on the Boost App or by dialling #111#. When you’re overseas recharge by dialling #111#.

The $60 International Roaming recharge is not available with a voucher.

You can still receive and make calls or send SMS by purchasing a $5 or $15 Add On, for use within 28 days. You must have an active recharge to purchase and use an Add On. Note the $60 International Roaming recharge counts as an active recharge.

Yes, as part of your 30 minute call allowance (to and from standard numbers) you can check your voicemail. Your allowance will not be deducted when someone leaves a voicemail.

Data free streaming of Apple Music is not included in International Recharge. If it is included in your plan, it is only available for use in Australia.

Minutes included in your International Roaming Recharge are deducted when both making and receiving standard calls while in a selected country. Standard text messages are free to receive while overseas.

You can make standard calls:

  • Within the country you’re visiting.
  • To Australia.
  • To other selected countries.

You can send standard text messages:

  • To Australian mobile numbers.
  • To international mobile numbers.
  • International Roaming Recharge does not include MMS/PXT or video calling

International Roaming recharge is only available online.

INTERNATIONAL ROAMING TROUBLESHOOTING

When you arrive in your destination, you should automatically connect to a network. If you’re unable to connect to a network, try these troubleshooting steps:

General Checks

  • Restart your device
  • Double check aeroplane/flight mode is turned off

Your location
Roaming is not available in all locations, check here that international roaming is available in your current location.

Network selection
In your phone settings, check that your device is set up to automatically select a network. If it’s on manual, switch to automatic. If you’re on automatic, try manually selecting another network. Remember to switch it back to automatic if this doesn’t work.

Reset network settings
If you’re using an iphone or ipad, try resetting the network settings. Resetting network settings will mean you’ll need to re-pair Bluetooth devices and re-enter Wi-Fi passwords. To do this click settings > general > reset> reset network settings.

If you’re unable to make a call/text while overseas, try the following troubleshooting steps:

Roaming balance
To make calls/text while overseas you’ll need an international roaming recharge or an active recharge with an Add-On. If you’re unsure if you have a valid recharge you can check this and recharge by dialling #111# from your Boost phone.

Roaming network
If you’re connect to a roaming network, the network will be displayed at the top of your phone with the reception bars. If there is no network displayed, use the troubleshooting tips above to connect.

Phone number
Double check that the number you’re calling/texting has the correct area code and number format.

Your location
Roaming is not available in all locations, check here that international roaming is available in your current location.

If you’re unable to use data while overseas, try the following troubleshooting steps:

Recharge/Add-on
Data roaming is only available with our international roaming recharge. Add-Ons include international roaming calls/text only. If you’re unsure if you have a valid recharge you can check this and recharge by dialling #111# from your Boost phone.

Data Roaming
Check the settings of your phone to ensure that data roaming is turned on. If you’re unsure how, head to the FAQs for your phone manufacturer for instructions. Apple Tips. Samsung Tips.

 

Phone settings
Check the troubleshooting on your phone manufacturers website. They may have some additional tips to update settings in your phone.
