More Information

Check our coverage map for specifics, and remember you’ll need a 5G-enabled phone to use 5G in a 5G coverage area. (Most new phones have 5G built-in.) But what even is 5G, and why do we keep saying 5G? Both very good questions.

5G is the latest and greatest generation of mobile network technology. It’s about faster speeds in crowded places, with quick downloads, smoother streaming and gaming. It’s also about capacity – because people are adding more and more phones, TVs, fridges and whatnot to the network, we need to expand network capacity so we don’t all get slowed down. Some people say it’s like adding extra lanes to a crowded highway.

And remember, Boost Mobile has full coverage of the Telstra mobile network. That’s right. Full coverage. Telstra mobile network. Boost Mobile.

If you’ve got an iPhone 12 model or later, then yes. If you’ve got an Android phone like a Google Pixel or Samsung Galaxy that’s come out in the past couple of years, also yes. 2019-20 model? Maybe. Two tin cans connected by a piece of string? Probably not, if we’re being honest with you.

You can check if your phone is 5G-enabled by following these steps (Android):

  • Open the Settings app on your Android phone.
  • Find ‘Wi-Fi and Network’, and open it up.
  • Select ‘SIM & network’.
  • You should see ‘Preferred Network’, with a list of all the Gs your phone can handle. If one of them is ‘5G’, you’re in.

And these steps for iPhone:

  • Open up the Settings app on your iPhone.
  • Find ‘Cellular/Mobile Data Option’ and open it up.
  • Select ‘Voice & Data’.
  • If you see 5G as an option there, you’re in.

Park your eyeballs on our coverage map. Enter your address to check coverage in your area. Enter your nana’s address to check coverage in her area. Otherwise, you can navigate around the map using your keyboard using the arrow keys to pan and the +/- keys to zoom in and out. If you don’t have a keyboard, maybe Nana does?

Search for your address using our coverage map, and you’ll find the answers you seek. You’ll find information on what you should expect whether you’re indoors or outdoors. In metro areas, you should expect 5G coverage whether you’re on the porch or on the toilet. Unless you’ve got one of those lead-lined bathrooms so Superman can’t see you in there. That’s a real edge case, frankly.

Boost Mobile uses the full Telstra Mobile network which covers 2.6 million km2 of Australia. That's a lot of the country to cover! You can see where we’re going with this... We’re saying you should get a mobile plan with us! But check the coverage map to be sure you have coverage in your area.

By using our coverage map. Seriously, it’s great for this stuff. There’s a button on the map that says “Maximise your signal”. Press that and you’ll get some good advice on making the most of your location and device.
