How to Screenshot on an Android Phone

A screenshot is an image that captures and displays the current content on a phone. Screenshotting is a useful function available on most Android phones and devices.

How to take a Screenshot on a Samsung Phone

Screenshotting on a Samsung phone requires your “Power Key”, “Volume Down Key”, “Side Key”, and/or “Home Key”.

  1. Samsung Galaxy with a “Side Key”: Hold down the “Volume Down Key” and “Side Key” on the right side of your phone at the same time. 
  2. Samsung Galaxy with a “Power Key”: Hold down the “Power Key” on the right side and the “Volume Down Key” on the left side of your phone at the same time.
  3. Samsung Galaxy with a “Home Key”: Hold down the “Home Key” on the front of your phone and the “Volume Down Key” on the left side at the same time.
  4. Samsung Phone with an S Pen: Tap the Air Command menu icon, select “Smart Select” and draw the parameters of the image you want to capture.

Most Samsung phones also have a palm swipe function for taking screenshots. You can set this feature up by heading into your “Settings” and tapping into “Advanced Features”. Select “Motions & Gestures” and toggle on “Palm Swipe to Capture”. This should allow you to screenshot with a palm swipe on your Samsung Galaxy device.

For a scrolling screenshot, you will first need to enable “Smart Capture/Screenshot” on your toolbar. After taking a normal screenshot, you should see a scroll capture key which you can press to save a longer image on your screen.

 

How to take a Screenshot on a Google Pixel

Take a screenshot on a Google Pixel by holding the “Power Button” and “Volume Down Button” simultaneously for a few seconds. These buttons should be located on the right side of your device.

After taking a screenshot, you’ll get a notification at the bottom of your device’s screen where you can share your screenshot or tap the “Capture More” button to take a scrolling screenshot. Your screenshot will be saved directly into your phone’s gallery app.

How to take a Screenshot on a OnePlus Phone

Screenshotting on OnePlus phones is quick and simple. Simply hold the “Power” button and “Volume Down” button at the same time until your display flashes. After the flash, you will see a preview of your screenshot at the bottom right corner of your screen.

You can also use gesture controls to help you take a screenshot on your OnePlus phone. Open the “Settings” app, scroll down to “Buttons & Gestures” and into “Quick Gestures”. Here, you can enable “Three Finger Screenshot”. You can screenshot using this method by swiping down on your screen with your index, middle, and ring finger.

You can take a screenshot on a wide range of Android devices. Most will involve the power button and other side keys that the phone may have. Unfortunately, most Android phones don’t have a dedicated screenshot button.
